Have you ever set or even thought about your goals? Do you have a goal that you are working towards or are you letting the everyday life and distractions steer your daily life?
What is it that you want to do or achieve? What is it that you want to have, be and do? If the answer to these questions is “I have no idea”, then take some time to really think about what is it that you want to do.
Having a goal to work towards can bring so much joy and enthusiasm where otherwise you might feel really down and unmotivated. It’s so easy to get distracted in today’s fast paced life with constant distractions from the environment, social media and the news. If we are not aware of the messages and programming coming to us every day from various sources, we can easily get off course. We may start to feel negative emotions and being unmotivated to do much of anything.
Sometimes it might not be so obvious that something is wrong, it might just be just a feeling that something is off. Many times the feeling of lack of joy and enthusiasm for life can be a result of giving too much power to all these distractions instead of taking the time to think about what is important to you personally.
Once you determine your goal or purpose in life, the everyday becomes so much more meaningful because you will be more likely to take action from the place of knowing what you need to do, and who you need to be in order to reach that goal. You’ll also start to be influenced by the distractions less and less.
If we don’t have a goal, we are essentially giving our power to the outside influences of media, the hundreds if not thousands of marketing messages that bombard us daily telling us we are not good enough if you don’t buy a product and all other distractions that don’t contribute to our goals or help us see our own value in the world.
Once you have a clear image of what is it that you want to be do and/or have, life becomes easier because you will have more time to really be who you were meant to be instead of giving your personal power to the outside world that doesn’t know you or even care about what’s in your best interest.
When you are clear on your goals, you are in the driver seat. You are in a place where you are making decisions on what you want or need to do in order to fulfill your goals and life’s work. You will be able to take charge and decide what media and social media you choose to consume on a daily basis and what images and messages are going into your consciousness. You start to naturally be aware of the programming that doesn’t serve you and choose to consume TV shows, podcast, social media and all other type of media that does support you and your goals with more positive influences.
If you don’t have a goal, you are essentially drifting like a boat in the ocean without oars or an engine, you are just being taken by the waves and who knows where you end up at. It’s like getting in your car with the idea that you are going to drive somewhere but you have no idea were. If you get in your car with a destination in mind and put the destination in your GPS, your maps will get you there with 100% certainly. It’s the same in life when setting goals.
Once you have a clear goal on what is it that you want to achieve, do or have, and you become aware of the goal in your daily life, you will be naturally guided to reach that goal. You will start to take action naturally towards the goal and the way you think and act will start the momentum towards achieving your goals. It won’t be an overnight process but the more you stick to your goal, keep it in your mind as much as possible, and take daily action, the more likely you are to reach your goal. And even if you don’t reach your goal exactly at least you will get somewhere vs just drifting with no direction or goal.
To get started on figuring out what is it that you want to achieve, take a piece of paper and write down what you want to be, what you want to do, and what you want to have. Don’t concern with how you are going to get there, the how will come to you in time, just focus on the goal.
Look at your goals daily to keep them in your mind and to remind yourself why you are doing what you do and where you are going. You will get there if you just keep working at it. Believe that you can achieve anything you set you mind to and go after it. The old saying goes; “If you believe you can, you can, if you believe you can’t, you can’t”. Which way are you going to believe? Are you going to believe you can, or that you can’t? It’s totally up to you. The decision is yours.
