I wanted to share some tips on how to support your immune system naturally. I’ve been using these strategies myself for several years now and have also used them on our whole family, including our children.
There are some foundational things that help your body function at optimum level which helps your body to fight off things naturally. The most important main things are a healthy diet, getting enough sleep and reducing stress. Sometimes the daily life just gets in the way and it’s not always possible to eat clean and get enough sleep or avoid stress and that is why I like to use additional things such as supplements and essential oils to support the body.
The foundations of a healthy diet are really simple. Just avoid processed foods and cook at home as much as possible. It doesn’t have to be complicated. You can cook some fish or chicken and roast or steam some vegetables on the side. For lunch a salad is the ultimate fast food. It comes together in minutes. Just use already chopped lettuce, add tomatoes, cucumbers or whatever vegetables or fruit you like. For protein you can chop some already cooked chicken or add beans. The dressing doesn’t have to be complicated either, just drizzle with a high quality extra virgin olive oil and some red wine vinegar. The key is to avoid anything processed such as chips and cookies (anything that is man made and comes in a box from a factory) and fast food in general.
I eat healthy most of the time but there are days when I don’t have the time or I’m too tired so I like to use supplements to support my body and cells. My favorite daily vitamins are the doTERRA lifelong vitality supplements. It’s a pack of 3 supplements and I take 2 of each supplement daily. I like to take them with a drop of doTERRA lemon essential oil in the water for extra detox. The doterra Lifelong supplements have given me more energy than anything else I’ve ever tried before which is the reason I’ve used them for several years now. If I accidentally miss a dose, I feel it right away with a drop in my energy levels. I also like the fact that they are clean and whole foods based. For our children I give them the doterra children’s chewable vitamins and for our older ones the Lifelong vitality supplements. Other supplements I like to use our doTERRA skin vitamins, doTERRA Deep Blue Supplements for extra anti-oxidant support, doTERRA Onguard beadlets and doTERRA Onguard plus for immune support, doTERRA turmeric, doTERRA DDR Prime and doTERRA copaiba supplements for immune, cellular health and anti-aging support.
Sleep is an individual thing where some people can function with less sleep than others so the key is find what works best for you and sticking with the routine as much as possible. Getting enough sleep is important though for proper hormone balance, anti-aging and recovery as well as weight management. For night time I like to use relaxing essential oils such as doTERRA lavender or doTERRA Serenity blend. They are great diffused or added to the bottoms of the feet. I also like to keep a roller bottle of doTERRA lavender on my desk and at the night stand for relaxing during the day as well as at night. I just roll the roller on the wrists and inhale. doTERRA Adaptive blend is great to use as well during the day especially. The doTERRA Serenity supplements are great for night time as well for supporting sleep.
Stress can play a real havoc on your body and affect your immune system and overall health in general. I learned it the hard way with my body literally breaking down because I ignored the warning signs and just tried to push through. I now take the time to recognize the signs and slow down when needed. I lean on essential oils a lot to help me manage my stress levels and mood in general. I start my day every morning with applying doTERRA balance on the bottoms of the feet and it has helped me tremendously not to be so stressed during the day especially at work. I also like to use various doTERRA rollers through out the day whenever I need a little break or some pick me up. My favorite rollers to use are all the doTERRA floral oils such as Neroli, Jasmine, Rose, lavender and Magnolia. I also love to use frankincense, and Adaptive rollers through out the day. I keep them on my desk and all around the house for easy access. I also like to take doTERRA frankincense internally. The kids doTERRA Calmer blend is great too and not only for kids. I’ve used it many times at night time or during the day.
I love to support my body with essential oils and supplements if I feel like I’m coming down with something or I’ve been in a crowded place or have traveled etc. My favorites oil blends are the doTERRA Onguard and Breathe. I like to take the doTERRA Onguard beadlets if I feel off or I’ve just traveled. If I feel like I need something stronger, I’ll take the doTERRA onguard plus supplement and I continue to take it a few days if needed. I will also many times up my doTERRA Lifelong vitality supplements to the full daily dose recommend which is 2 of each supplement twice a day. I like to diffuce Ongard or Breathe or both. Alternatively I also like to diffuse Air X. I’ll also apply Onguard oil blend or the roller on the bottoms of the feet along with frankincense and Breathe. I also love to keep the Onguard and Breathe throat drops on hand and use them as needed. The Breathe stick is great for applying on the chest when needed for extra support. Probiotics are great for supporting the gut health which in turn supports the immune system as the immunity starts in the gut. I love to use the doTERRA probiotics for supporting my gut health.
